Makeup is one of my favorite things in the world, I love learning techniques, experimenting with formulas on my skin type and testing different looks on my features. Of all the trends we have gone through over the years, the glowy, bronze makeup is my go to during the summer. In this post I will share the best products (and I have tried many) for long lasting, natural looking, summery makeup looks.
Firstly, my skin type is combination to oily, with visible pores and I have been diagnose with sebum dermatitis a few years ago, so I have very sensitive skin. Plus, living in Dubai, my makeup use to melt off my skin and I had to do a lot of trial and error to finally find products, that seamlessly complete each other for the perfect summer base.
Skin Prep
- Face Wash – Bioderma Sensibio DS+ Cleansing Gel, this cleanser is gentle but mighty, formulated to reduce sebum production and remove yeast that effect skin barrier.
- Toner – Medicube zero pore pads mild, I noticed a big difference with this, it gave me that botox glow effect on my forehead too!
- Serum – Caudalie Resveratrol Lift Instant Firming Serum which feels amazing
- Treatment – Skinoren Azelaic Acid Cream, to unify my skin tone and reduce acne.
- Moisturizer – La Roche-Posay Effaclar H Isobiome Moisturizer, which is made for oily skin and pares well with the Dubai humidity.
- Sun Protection – beauty of joseon sunscreen, which gives a beautiful glow and adds a layer of light hydration.
Base
- Undereye Corrector – Tarte CC Colored Clay Undereye Corrector. This could be a high coverage product but I use a small amount and it workers great for my dry eyes.
- Brightener – Kosas Revealer Extra Bright Serum-Powered Color Corrector, which is lighter and provided luminosity, I use it on days I want more brightness.
- Concealer – Kosas Revealer Concealer to cover my redness, mainly around the nose. A little goes a long way, yet its, light and hydrating.
Bronzer and Highlighter
- The ultimate bronzing due of the summer – Make up by Mario’s skin enhancer and skin perfecter. The difference between the two is the skin enhancer is a cream bronzer, while the skin perfecter is a powder bronzer with highlight combo.
- The dewy look – Glossier’s uturedew Facial Oil-Serum Hybrid, I use this only on the my cheek bones, it’s too oily for my whole face but as a highlighter, chef’s kiss!
- The Glam look – Rare Beauty highlight, the glow and staying power of this is superior.
Blush
- Cream Blush – Makeup Forever face pallet, it’s versatile and can be used for various looks from summer to winter. This pallet is a staple in my makeup bag for sure.
- No Makeup Makeup – Glossier’s Gale, which is my go to warm beige blush, perfect for a soft, no make up makeup look.
- Summer nights, soft glam – Makeup by Mario’s Dessert Rose, which is a dusty rose that add a soft pink and blend with the bronzer perfectly.
- Sun kissed flush for the summer – Mac’s pinch me, which is a beautiful terracotta that give a sheer, natural, matte finish and lasts so well.
Powders
- Finishing Powder – Charlotte Tilbury’s airbrush finishing power, which actually does make my skin look airbrushed.
- Setting Powder – Laura Mercier Loose powder, the trusted powder throughout the years. I have tried many and this works amazing for my oily skin.
Eyebrows
- Eyebrow Setter – Benefit’s 24hr Brow Setter, this is great for the natural makeup look in the summer to add dimension and thickness without looking soapy.
- Eyebrow Filler – ABH Dip Brow Pomade, with the perfect brush, this create a natural hair like color to the brow.
Masacra
- Dramatic Eyelashes – L’Oréal Paris Telescopic Original Mascara, it’s thin wand and bristles allow for length and volume without clumping the lashes.
- Heat Resistant Mascara – Revitalash Length Define Tubing Mascara, tubing mascara is smudge proof because it coats each individual lash with the formula like a tube as oppose to smearing it on like traditional mascaras. Perfect for Dubai’s hot, humid weather.
Lips
- Lipliner – Huda Beauty’s Lip Contour Lip stain, lasts all day and looks great, it’s perfect for long days at the beach. The only down side is that the packaging contains very little product.
- Summer night lips – Kiko Milano Double Touch Lipstick, has a matte lipstick side and a clear glossy side for either mood.
- Lasting shine – Kylie’s Lip Butter, I love the smell and taste of the mango flavor.
Pro Tip: I have been loving using the Makeup Forever face pallet‘s contour shade to contour my lips and get a subtle plumping effect.
